County Supervisor Heidi Hall’s Double Dipping on Salary
How does one hold two full-time jobs and still serve The People and the positions? Only now, Hall figures this is not possible after 8 years.
I was truly shocked, reading Barry Pruett’s article in Sierra Thread regarding Heidi Hall’s collecting salaries on two government positions the entire time she has been District 1 Supervisor.

According to Transparent California Ms. Hall has been a program Manager for the California Department of Water Resources since 2012 garnering a salary that exceeds $800,000 in total pay and benefits, while simultaneously collecting her salary as supervisor.

Pruett refers to a 2008 Grand Jury Report which conducted an inquiry into compensation and benefits for supervisors and determined that the position is a 40/hr. a week job. Ms. Hall must have known this to be the case prior to running for office.
In 2022, Assistant CEO, Caleb Dardick, also cited the Grand Jury report while advocating for adoption of a Resolution increasing supervisor’s pay, which is now $74K per year. Dardick also stated that the supervisor’s job is a full-time position. Yet Hall still continued to work for the state.
In 2007, Kathleen Smith, who was the Nevada County election officer at the time, resigned from her elected position when it was discovered she also worked full time as a city clerk for Rio Vista.
Even though Ms. Hall resigned her job with the Department of Water Resources last June, it doesn’t excuse the fact that she has been working for two separate jurisdictions the entire time she has been supervisor.
Since Ms. Hall is running for yet a third term as Supervisor of District 1, perhaps it’s time to do the right thing and let someone else hold the position. Hall has continued to assert the supervisor’s position is part-time. I am sure her constituents feel otherwise.
